As the world celebrates International Nurses Week 2026, I also join in recognizing the incredible role nurses play in transforming healthcare and saving lives each and everyday Nurses are more than just healthcare providers; they are caregivers, counsellors and hope advocates who bring comfort to patients, families and communities during difficult moments.
Being a nursing student at Zetech University has given me a deeper understanding of what it truly means to serve humanity through healthcare. Every lesson, practical session and clinical experience continues to shape me into a compassionate, skilled and confident future nurse prepared to make a difference in society.
One of the things I enjoy most about nursing is its interactive nature. Nursing allows you to connect with people from different backgrounds, listen to their experiences and provide care that can positively impact their lives. The profession is built on compassion, communication and empathy. These qualities inspire me every day as I continue my training.
The practical sessions at the university have been among the most valuable parts of my learning journey. The skills laboratory provides a real hospital-like environment where we practice procedures and learn how to handle patients professionally and safely. These practical experiences give a clearer picture of how healthcare systems operate and help bridge the gap between classroom theory and real clinical practice. Through simulations and hands-on training, I continue gaining confidence in patient care, teamwork and decision-making.
At Zetech University, nursing education goes beyond textbooks. The University is equipping us with modern healthcare knowledge, ethical values, leadership skills and professional competence needed in today’s rapidly evolving healthcare environment. We are trained to adapt to new medical technologies, digital healthcare systems and evidence-based practice while maintaining compassion and professionalism in patient care.
As I continue with my studies, I have great expectations for the future. I believe the education and training I am receiving at Zetech University will prepare me to work not only in Kenya but also internationally. The healthcare profession offers opportunities to serve communities across the world, and I am confident that the strong academic and practical foundation from Zetech will enable me to compete globally and contribute meaningfully to healthcare systems everywhere.
Beyond becoming a registered nurse, I also aspire to grow into a healthcare leader who can influence positive change within the medical field. In the future, I may become one of the best nurses in the profession, a healthcare administrator, or even a Minister of Health dedicated to improving healthcare services and advocating for better patient care and stronger healthcare systems.
International Nurses Week 2026 is therefore not only a celebration of nurses across the world but also a reminder of the responsibility, dedication, and passion required in this noble profession. It inspires nursing students like me to continue working hard, learning, and preparing ourselves to become healthcare professionals who will save lives, uplift communities, and shape the future of healthcare.
Today, I celebrate all nurses, nursing students, educators, and healthcare workers whose service and commitment continue to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals.
