University advises youth in 2021 Career Fair

The University last weekend participated in a Career Fair exposition at Sarit Centre in collaboration with the Nation Media Group to provide advice and mentorship to young professionals, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue their dream careers.

Themed “empowering the youth to succeed in the post COVID era”, the two day event attracted esteemed panellists from different state organs and corporates to address the impact of COVID-19 especially on the youth and education sector.

While giving his remarks on the 2021 Career’s expo, Mr. James Sogoti, General Manager, Commercial at Nation Media Group, applauded the role the higher institutions of learning play in transforming the future generation amidst the unprecedented times of global pandemic. In his statement, “I appreciate and applaud our dedicated Universities and Colleges for moulding the young generation for the future and preparing them to take advantage of available opportunities.”

Evidently, the alarming high rate of unemployment in Kenya has discouraged students, affecting their choice and confidence in choosing and pursuing a career. To address this, Zetech has continuously embarked on career advisory and customer satisfaction initiatives to guid students. Additionally, learners benefit from a competency-based curriculum fitted with practical classes and exposure as championed by the Education Cabinet Secretary, Prof. George Magoha.

In response to the pandemic and its effects, the University invested in digital infrastructure, incorporating innovation in delivery of education to ensure continuous learning. ”As a University, we are keen on investing in initiatives that enhance the growth of students’ wellbeing while impacting the community at large. It is our role to nurture and train the upcoming generation while they invent their future rightfully and through these career fairs, we are able to reach many. ” said Corporate Affairs Executive Director Mr. Moses Maina.

The University remains committed to supporting and investing in opportunities while giving students a platform to develop their skills and gain a competitive advantage in the market places.
