Varsity claims bragging rights in weekend sports games

In a weekend of action and entertainment, spirited and energetic students from Zetech University participated in various sports tournaments, earning bragging rights in various leagues.

On Saturday, the gents participated in the Kenya Basketball Federation men’s premier league. The young players put on a fight, demonstrating that good training and discipline play a critical role in winning games. Their opponents, the Lions, were not lucky on this occasion; the Zetech Titans swallowed their roars and sank them deep into the waters in the intense game, to clinch a victorious 45-40 win.

Complementing this win, their female counterparts, Zetech Sparks, portrayed a strong fight and great skill in the basketball pitch to silence African Nazarene University (ANU). The Sparks etched for themselves a 79 point win against ANU’s 52 points in the Women’s KBF premier league amid cheers and celebration by the fans.

Team coach Maurice Obilo noted his pleasant surprise at what his girls are capable of, following recent signings to the team a few weeks ago. Teresa Oloo shot 18 points for her team while Naomi Bosibori and Lucy Mbithe garnered 12 and 11 points respectively.

Meanwhile, in the soccer arena, the University ladies football team sparked in the Football Federation of Kenya (FKF) games, securing a 1-0 victory over Spedag FC.
