Varsity prepares for Virtual Graduation
It has been an interesting year, with institutions of higher education adapting to the new normal and adapting to provision of online learning. As a University of technology and advancement, Zetech University quickly transitioned to virtual learning in April to enable students to progress with online degrees, diplomas and certificates.
In the period, the University invested in upgrading the Learning Management System (LMS) to accommodate more than 10000 students at a go to ensure the growing student base to enjoy the online learning experience. The impact has been impressive, with students appreciating the heightened experience that imitates face to face learning.
According to the Academics department, there was need to ensure students don’t stay home and waste time; the University had to create a system that allows them to learn online while interacting with faculty and fellow students. Additionally, the technical subjects such as Engineering, ICT and Hospitality will now be furnished with online practical lessons through online videos and simulations to ensure they do not miss out on this critical aspect of their programmes.
The University has gone further to ensure students graduate on time by planning for a Virtual graduation to be held on 13th November 2020. Observing the directives provided by the Ministry of Health in Kenya, the ceremony will be a historic affair and one of its kind and will enable qualified students to graduate and progress with their career and entrepreneurship goals.
