Varsity to Admit More Students as KUCCPS Extends Placement
Zetech University is expected to admit more government sponsored students in the ongoing May 2018 intake. This follows the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS)’s extension of the 2018/2019 placement to accommodate 5,747 students out of the 69,151 candidates who scored C+ and above who did not secure a place in university.
While releasing the KUCCPS’ placement results early last month, Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed appealed to the placement service to give the students a chance to get placed. “…5,747 students out of the 69,151 candidates who scored C+ and above have not secured placement. Of these, 2,128 did not apply at all, while 3,619 applied but could not competitively secure placement,” she noted.
In what seems to be a response to the CS’s call and the cry of students and parents, KUCCPS extended the revision to May 11th. The two-week additional period will see unsuccessful students apply to join higher learning institutions of their choice as universities and colleges prepare to take in more students.
Commenting on the placement extension, Zetech University Registrar Academic Affairs, Moses Maina lauded KUCCPS for the move, sharing that the varsity looks forward to admitting additional trainees, “the extension will ensure that those students left out during the first placement get a chance to join University and grow their careers.”
He noted that the varsity received just over 200 students during the ongoing admission and has thousands of slots available for those who are taking advantage of the extension, he added, “We have extended our admission period to create an opportunity for more students to join us.”
The University is reaching out to students through various communication channels to ensure beneficiaries are aware of the opportunity to secure sponsorship for quality education. In the meantime, the process of admitting the already placed students is ongoing in the University’s main campus and they are set to start learning in a week’s time.
The reporting dates for those already placed are 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th May. An orientation session will be held at the University main campus on 9th May 2018.
