Victorious weekend for varsity sports teams

It was a triumphant weekend for the University sports teams after they beat competitors in football and basketball matches. The Zetech Titans, in the FKF Division one round 6 games, silenced Congo Boys 1-0 in a tough battle played at the Ruiru stadium. A smashing goal by team captain Steven Duol served as the only goal in the team giving the Titans an upper hand in the league. The Titans believe this will up their standing in the league table from position three as they put their best foot forward in the intense tournament.

In the Kenya University Sports Association (KUSA) games, the gents beat Machakos FC 1-0 and managed a 1-1 against UMMA University; the Under 13 squad, in their game, massacred Gachie soccer academy 3-0 in an entertaining match in Ruiru.

“I believe we are doing well in the FKF games and we are training intensely for the upcoming away games that require our focus and tact. I’m encouraged by our performance and trust we will do well.” said Team Coach Ben Kitolo, who won the 2019 Coach of the year award during the University’s graduation, held on Friday.
The ladies side, Zetech Sparks, on their part equally impressed in the games securing a remarkable 4-0 lead against opponents UON in the KUSA games played on Saturday.

In the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Division one games, the Zetech Titans silenced UON 66-57 in the game 2 playoffs that will determine who plays in the finals, for the league that is coming to a close soon. The team doubled their weekend win when they clinched a narrow 35-33 win against Technical University of Kenya in the KUSA games.

The ladies basketball team complemented the Titans when they won their KBF playoff games against Strathmore University, managing a 36-33 victory played at the UON grounds.

Commenting on the performance, Coach Maurice Obilo lauded his team for the win and noted that they would work on challenging areas to ensure they are ready for next weekend’s games.
