Zetech University has kicked off admission of 1943 government sponsored students placed by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), in the recent placement of the 2020/2021 cycle, a 28% improvement from the last admission.

In this year’s placement of those who sat for the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, the University achieved an impressive 90.4% placement out of a declared capacity of 2150; out of the total, 59.9% are men while 40.1% represents females who will join the institution.

This year’s placement data by KUCCPS indicate that of the 122,831 applicants placed to degree courses, 54.27 per cent will join Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programmes. Commenting on this, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha noted that Stem subjects are critical for producing skilled workforce for the achievement of the Big Four agenda.

Out of the 11 available degree programmes, the University’s Bachelor of Science in Information Technology(BSCIT) course attracted the highest number of students, representing 15.5% of the total placed. This was followed by the Bachelor of Business Information Technology and the Bachelor of Business Administration and Management programmes. The highest number of males enrolled for the BSCIT programme while a majority of the females opted for the Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy.

Zetech University Vice Chancellor Prof. Njenga Munene appreciated the students, Government and KUCCPS for the opportunity to provide quality education to Kenyans, “We are grateful to the 1943 students who have chosen to study with us and benefit from the Zetech experience. Our team is ready to facilitate an easy transition to University for our new learners even as we run a successful blended learning programme.” said Prof. Munene.”

He noted that University has received students from all over the country including Samburu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nairobi, Mombasa, among others, which aligns with the Varsity’s intention to admit students from various religious backgrounds and different countries so as to create a diverse and rewarding learning environment and promote national cohesion and coexistence within the University.
As the students and the guardians prepare themselves for the Zetech experience, the University is in contact with them to provide guidance and orient them on reporting dates.
