
Zetech Football, Basketball Squads Shine in Weekend Games
Zetech University football and basketball teams excelled in weekend features, silencing opponents to secure well deserved wins. In the women’s Premier League, the varsity ladies Basketball team, Zetech Sparks, silenced Eagle wins 38-19 in their second outing as the Kenya Basketball Federation new season entered its second week.
Following suit, the Zetech University Men’s side beat University of Nairobi’s Terror in a straight set of 48-36 on Sunday at the USIU grounds. The University’s Akol Ador was the top scorer of the game with 25 points.
Coach Job Munene lauded the team for their first game of the season, noting that it was a welcome result for the team, “The gents had a good attitude and were determined to win their first game. We will build on this to ensure we end well.” He said. Furthermore, the Titans completed their lucky weekend with a 50-26 victory over the Lions.
On the football field, Zetech Titans FC carried the day on Sunday beating Karuri FC 2-1 in the Football Kenya Federation games. The first goal was scored in the 45th minute in the first half by Steven Duol equalizing with the opponents who had scored through a penalty on the 26th minute. Subsequently, the winning goal was scored in the 89th minute by Joel Khayimba alias Xavior ending the match with a 2-1 win.
“I had confidence in my team and I knew we would make it. We trained well and we look forward to many more wins,” noted Team Coach, Bernard Kitolo.
