Zetech Furnace warms hearts at Ruiru Rehabilitation Centre
The Zetech University drama club popularly known as Furnace embarked on a community initiative to empower lives in Kiambu Country. The team that features talented students in arts and drama visited the Ruiru rehabilitation Centre, a children’s centre located in Ruiru sub-county.
The charity event comes in the wake of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic with Furnace rallying themselves to visit the Centre to see how the children were coping and adapting with new normal caused by the pandemic.
The visit had about 15 members from the drama club accompanied by one of their trainers while the University’s Senior Marketing and Outreach Executive Wycliffe Sirengo represented the institution’s corporate arm.
Commenting on the importance of the event, Mr. Sirengo stated that it is important to stand with the community in this season while instilling in them the importance of education to guarantee themselves a secure future. According to the Furnace Events Lead David Musuku, the visit was a demonstration of love and support, “This is not an act of mercy but of love and by giving to the society we also offer hope to these young men and women”
The Centre’s family expressed gratitude to the guest for the support and lauded the institution for continually supporting the Home and inspiring the children to become the best versions of themselves.
The visit was the Drama club gifted the centre with food stuff and sanitary towels to help them cope in this tough times. The University extended their support to the Centre by pledging to reward the best candidate from class 8 to form 4 every year.
