Zetech gets Specific in placing students for internship

The importance of linkages between industry and the education sector cannot be overstated in a Country that is intensifying efforts to provide rewarding opportunities for the youth. This was the sentiment at Zetech University as the Institution hosted a delegation from Specific Talent to sign a partnership to secure internship and job opportunities for the Varsity’s trainees.

Through the collaboration with the company that is home to over 500 employees, students from different levels and programmes will be absorbed and given work experience to complement their theory classes in stations across Kenya.

Speaking at the signing of the MOU, Vice Chancellor Professor Njenga Munene laid emphasis on the critical role varsities play in investing in the future by exposing young people to seasoned professionals and entrepreneurs to assist them in preparing for the job market,
“At Zetech, we have amplified efforts to establish linkages with industry players in different sectors to sharpen our students’ skills and use feedback gained to improve the training at Zetech so as to meet and exceed industry demands.” said Prof. Munene.

Supporting the VC’s remarks, Specific Talent CEO and seasoned academician Professor Patrick Ngumi noted that there are immense opportunities for students and graduates to gain experience and begin their professional journey,

“We are proud to partner with Zetech today in creating a platform for learners to get firsthand experience and start to build their work lives at our different outlets within Kiambu, and other parts of the Country. We begin recruitment immediately.” said Prof. Ngumi, noting that his firm is also currently absorbing 100 employees to meet market demand.

On his part, Specific Talent HR Manager lauded Zetech for the drive to become a leading University in Kenya and noted that the available opportunities will help students to implement skills learned in the ever-growing retail industry while at the same time teach them discipline, commitment and having the right attitude.
