Zetech Maintain Steady Run in National Tournaments

The University sports teams are experiencing a great run in the various regional and national tournaments. In the basketball court, the Zetech ladies team inched closer to securing a spot in Kenya University Sports Association (KUSA) national play-offs having won three matches to better their chances of securing one of the two slots given to Nairobi Northern Conference in women’s national contest. They beat Multimedia University (MMU) 46-19 before crashing Machakos 75-19 and crowned a successful weekend with a 30-19 win over arch rivals Strathmore University.

Thereafter, the team lifted the first runners up title in the annual Tom Munyama tournament after falling to a narrow loss against Equity, in a game that ended 47-41 in favour of the bank; the ladies had taken control in the first quarter with a 14-12 lead and hammered the bankers 21-7 in the second for a 35-19 score-line at the break. On resumption, Equity resolved to shooting from the distance completing several baskets and a free throw (18-4) to win the game.

In the football field, the University football team claimed a deserved win over opponents Spedag, in a hotly contest FKF Premier league match played on 10th March at the Stima Club, in the FKF Womens Premier League while the gents, who are the Universities and Colleges Football League (UCFL) 2018 champions, have maintained an unbeaten run in recent games.

Celebrating the team for the steady performance, Dr. Alice Njuguna, DVC in charge of Academics and Student Affairs encouraged the teams to keep the pace to fill up the University trophy cabinet and make a name for themselves across the country.
