Zetech recognized regionally for Academic Growth in ICT

Zetech University has been recognized regionally for strides achieved in ICT and innovation that have impacted training at the University and enhanced the transition to blended learning following effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Awarded by CISCO Networking Academy, an international IT skills and career building program for learning institutions and individuals worldwide with more than 9 million beneficiaries, for championing and implementing IT skills and accelerating programmes for sustained growth over the last three years, Zetech topped the list of other four universities in Africa including Vaal University of Technology in South Africa and ENSIR in Morocco.

In the recognition that saw over 30 institutions around the world awarded, Zetech stood out as a major technological centre for innovation and conducting ICT programmes as a world class institution of higher learning in Africa.

Appreciating the award, Zetech University VC Prof. Njenga Munene lauded the move by CICSO to recognise partners that have embraced the move to digital learning programmes. This award is timely and we are grateful to CISCO as we work round the clock to collaborate with partners who are keen on providing quality education to students. This achievement builds on Zetech’s successful transition to a blended mode of learning, having invested hundreds of thousands to provide 10GB monthly bundles to all students in partnership with Safaricom and KENET.” said Prof. Munene. He further highlighted that increased collaborations with international IT firms including CISCO and Huawei have had direct impact on the quality of education delivered.

On her part, DVC, Academics, Research, Extension and Student Affairs Dr. Alice Njuguna noted that the University, having embraced technology, remains steadfast in its mandate to provide efficient online learning to ensure uninterrupted learning. “This award attained by our Centre for Professional certifications division attests to our commitment to use ICT for enhanced training, research and development.” added Dr. Njuguna.

The University remains adamant in leveraging on technological advancement with online examinations scheduled for next month to ensure students to graduate on time. This will boost students’ endeavours to successful invent their future, even as they study within the comfort of their homes.
