Zetech Teams Gear Up for National Showdown

In anticipation to national sports tournaments planned for the weekend, the Zetech football and Rugby teams are intensely training for heated battles against esteemed teams from all over the country.

As the world marks Easter by attending religious events, the lads and ladies who form the University football teams will be pitted against other university squads in the awaited 2019 national Kenya Universities Sports Association (KUSA) national finals.

The Zetech men’s side, Titans, who were the Nairobi champions will face Karatina University and Multi Media University in the first round of the games with sights to progress to a higher level. Thereafter, the Titans will fight to silence University of Nairobi a second time having beaten the team in March to win the Nairobi KUSA 2018-2019 title.

In the women’s side, the Zetech Sparks seek to light up the field with victories over competitors to maintain an unbeaten run achieved during the Nairobi conference KUSA 2018-2019 league. Having won the top title in the region, the Sparks will face Karatina University in an effort to reach to the semi-final level and win the coveted prize.

Commenting on the tournament, Coach Bernard Kitolo maintained that the gents and ladies are ready for the big fight, planning to front their best in the national games which will be held in Nairobi.

“I am confident that my teams are ready for action this weekend. The games are tight but the players have training well and we are optimistic to win the national prize this year.” said Coach Kitolo. He added that the regional league has been engaging and the teams are eager to win, having surrendered to two universities to place third in last year’s national games.

10 Aside Great Rift Challenge

Meanwhile in rugby, the Zetech Oaks have been pooled with several teams in the anticipated Great 10-aside tournament. To be staged in Nakuru County this weekend, the squad will play against Stingers, KCA and Brumbies as they eye the sought-after top prize.

Commenting on their preparedness, team captain Ian Adeya noted that the gents are ready to give their best to the celebrated tournament.
