
Zetech Titans, Sparks Crash USIU in Weekend Games
Zetech University teams came out shining in the past weekend games. The Titans and Sparks recorded a 3-0, 5-1 win respectively against the USIU teams in the Universities and Colleges Football League (UFCL).
USIU sports fraternity saw a tough weekend after the beating from their Zetech counterparts. The ladies squad were able to score five goals through Maria Helen who scored 4 goals in the 1st half and Puren Anyetu, the Sparks Captain scored the 5th goal at a 30 yards thunder bolt to silence the opponents, who managed a single goal in the entire match.
Following suit, the men’s squad successfully hit their opponents’ nets three times courtesy of Riack Nial, who scored 2 goals in the 1st half, and Bradon Odhiambo securing a 3-0 victory against USIU in the entertaining outing. In the FKF Abedares League, the Zetech Titans beat Sparks FC from Thika 3-1 through two penalty shootouts by Steven Duol and another by Joel Khayimba alias Xaviour in the second half.
Zetech Titans FC Coach Tom Juma lauded the team for the great match, noting that the team rallied itself steadily to defeat USIU, “I had confidence that my boys would play a great game and come out winners and indeed they did; we are looking forward to an additional win in the upcoming games.” he said.
Similarly on their part, the University Division 2 team beat Mwiki FC 1-0 in a heated match at the Mwiki stadium in Nairobi through a penalty kick by Austine Oduor netted in the 57th minute.
The Zetech team continued their winning record following their position 3 win in the KUSA national playoffs which took place in Taita Taveta last month that gave them a chance to represent the country and the University in Dodoma, Tanzania this December.
Meanwhile, in the basketball courts, Zetech Titans crashed Strathmore University 65-52 games in the KBF Division one tournament.
