Hi everyone,
I was recently prescribed generic Accutane for my severe acne. I don't have insurance, so I'm trying to figure out how much it will cost me out of pocket. Any advice or insights would be really appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Hello SunShine84,
I understand that managing medication costs without insurance can be a challenge. The cost of generic Accutane (also known as isotretinoin) can vary depending on your location, pharmacy, and the dosage you need.
On average, without insurance, the monthly cost for 10 mg capsules of generic Accutine ranges from $50 to $200 in many pharmacies. However, it's important to shop around to find the best price.
Additionally, some pharmacies offer discounts or payment plans that could help make the medication more affordable. You might also want to check if there are any patient assistance programs offered by pharmaceutical companies or non-profits that can provide financial support for your medication costs.
It’s always a good idea to talk directly with your pharmacist about cost-saving options and ensure you're getting the best deal possible.
Hope this helps, let me know if you have more questions!

Thanks DocDive for the detailed response! I appreciate it. Do you happen to know of any specific pharmacies that tend to offer better prices on generic medications? Or should I just visit a few different places?

You're welcome, SunShine84!
When it comes to finding the best prices for generic Accutane, here are some tips:
Discount Chain Pharmacies: Stores like Walmart and Costco often offer competitive pricing on medications. They have their own pharmacy plans that can sometimes be more affordable.
Online Pharmacies: Websites such as GoodRx or Blink Health allow you to compare prices across different pharmacies in your area. Some online pharmacies also sell generic drugs at significantly lower costs, but make sure they are reputable and FDA-approved.
Community Pharmacies: Sometimes smaller, local pharmacies offer discounts on generics because they want to support their community.
Mail Order Services: Some pharmacies have mail-order services where you can save money by ordering a 90-day supply of medication at once.
It’s always wise to visit different places or check online to compare prices and find the best deal. Don't forget to ask about any additional discounts or coupons that might be available!
Let me know if there's anything else I can help with!
