From a hostel room an idea of training ICT skills is conceptualised and started. From a few college mates the idea grows to become a class that can no longer fit in the hostel space. This idea is registered to operate as Zenith Technology (Zenith means at the very top) and the institution moves to Nairobi CBD. Zenith Technology evolves and becomes Zetech College (Zenith + Technology) offering a wide range of Certificate and Diploma programs and later embarks on a 15-year strategic growth blueprint of becoming a leading university in Technology. In pursuit of its vision of becoming a leading University, the college entered into a collaboration with Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) to offer their degree programs as part of a mentorship program. In line with its blueprint Zetech developed the Ruiru Campus and on 24th August 2014 received a Letter of Interim Authority (LIA) from the Commission for University Education giving it authority to operate as a University. Our flagship programs were Bachelor of Information Technology, Bachelor of Business Information Technology and Bachelor of Business Administration and Management. The Ruiru Campus Complex was officially opened by H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta on 21st August 2015. The Complex comprises a multipurpose state-of-the-art facility hosting tuition areas, academic and administrative offices. The launch of the 2016-2020 Strategic Plan by CS for Education Dr. Fred Matiang'i and the ISO 9001:2008 Certification on 8th September 2016. For continuous quality improvement the University upgraded to ISO 9001:2015 Certification and has successfully retained the certification for two cycles. Graduated the first cohort of degree students on 10th November 2017, growth of degree program portfolio in the fields of Education, Hospitality, Procurement and Business and admission of first cohort of Government Sponsored Students in September 2017. The University launched the 2018-2022 Strategic Plan as a roadmap to attainment of charter Launch of the MBA Program, the Service Charter and the Zetech Innovation Hub (iZET). On 2nd August 2022, Zetech was awarded the Charter to become a fully-fledged University by H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta after having met all the required conditions by the Commission for University Education. Additionally, we opened doors to students at The Technology Park Mang'u Campus which serves as The Seat of the University. Zetech University becomes the 1st in Kenya to be accredited as an ODeL centre by the Commission for University Education making it possible for our students to study anytime anywhere. The University launches Silver Jubilee to mark 25 Years of Scholarly Excellence, launches the 2022-2031 Strategic Plan, the Zetech University Foundation and the first PhD program. The Nairobi City Campus is accredited and launched providing convenience for working professionals and graduate students.
