Zetech University successfully hosted a transformative Farmers Symposium and Roundtable Session on 28th November 2025 at the Technology Park, Mang’u Campus, bringing together farmers, researchers, agribusiness stakeholders, industry experts, and policymakers for a day of knowledge exchange, practical demonstrations, and collaboration. “Agriculture remains a cornerstone of Kenya’s economic stability and social development, contributing between 21.35% and 22.5% of the country’s GDP in 2024 and employing over 40% of the national population, with more than 70% of rural households depending on the sector for their livelihoods,” noted Zetech University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Njenga Munene.

Recognising this vital role, he emphasised that the symposium sought to respond directly to the pressing need for modernisation, value addition, and resilience-building across Kenya’s agricultural value chains. “Zetech University remains committed to supporting farmers with the skills, technology, and networks needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving agricultural landscape. This symposium builds on our dedication to sustainable prosperity and demonstrates the impact of strong partnerships between academia, industry, and the community,” the Vice Chancellor added. Throughout the day, participants engaged in discussions on emerging trends in animal production, shared best practices, explored innovative technologies, and connected with industry partners driving growth within the sector.

The event was supported by several industry players and agribusiness partners, including Kenchic, KNCCI, Pembe Feeds, Silverdale Farms, Neema Feeds, Osho Chemical Industries, TruVet, Techwin Limited, Atlantis Solar Systems, Pine Agrivit, among others whose contributions helped make the symposium a success.

“The Technology Park is designed as an innovation and training hub, and this symposium showcased exactly what we intend it to be—a space where ideas, expertise, and solutions meet real community needs. We are proud to have convened stakeholders committed to advancing animal farming through science, practical skills, and continuous learning,” noted the Programme Leader and Director of the Technology Park Mang’u Campus Dr. Beauttah Mwangi.
