The African Centre for Data Analytics and Modelling (ACDAM) at Zetech University hosted a research and grant writing seminar on 9th September 2025 at Technology Park Mang’u Campus led by Prof. S.M. Mwalili and E.M. Musyoka. The seminar attracted researchers and professionals seeking to enhance their competitiveness in securing funding to support their projects. This training session aimed at equipping participants with the knowledge and confidence to transform innovative ideas into winning proposals.
The seminar was structured around four central themes, with emphasis majored on developing persuasive proposals that align with funders’ missions while integrating evidence, innovation, and measurable outcomes. The discussions underscored the critical importance of collaboration, particularly in identifying appropriate partners, delineating roles, and reinforcing teamwork through institutional agreements. In addition, participants explored the role of emerging technologies, notably artificial intelligence, in improving clarity, efficiency, and strategic framing of proposals, while acknowledging the irreplaceable value of human creativity. “Grant writing is not merely about securing resources; it is about building bridges of collaboration that enable knowledge to thrive and society to progress.” Prof. S. M. Mwalili.
Most importantly, effective grant writing ensures that research transcends academia to achieve societal impact. It positions scholars not only as seekers of knowledge but also as agents of transformation whose work addresses pressing challenges in health, education, technology, and sustainable development.
As a hub for innovation, capacity building, and interdisciplinary collaboration,
ACDAM remains a strategic pillar at Zetech University. Through initiatives such as Research & Grant Writing Workshops, the centre continues to empower researchers, foster impactful partnerships, and drive the University’s mission of producing knowledge that responds to societal needs while shaping the future of scholarship in Africa.
