“The future belongs to those who adapt, innovate, continuously learn and unlearn.’’ Prof. Njenga Munene.

In today’s highly competitive marketplace, choosing the right career path is crucial, especially for learners joining institutions of higher learning. Over time, career fairs have played a vital role in shaping how students perceive career selection, exposing them to opportunities that allow them to explore diverse professional paths, engage with seasoned industry experts, and make informed decisions about their futures.

This year’s Zetech University Career Fair, dubbed “The Future is You: Empowering Youth for Global Impact,” addressed the underlying needs and gaps facing young people across the globe. This theme explored the vital role of youth in shaping the world’s social and economic future, while underscoring the responsibility that institutions of higher learning play in equipping learners with tangible, market-relevant skills that position them as experts and change-makers in their respective fields.

Moreso, career fairs play a significant role in sharpening students especially on their soft skills as they learn how to pitch themselves confidently to potential employers and prepare for the job market.

Speaking during the event, the chief guest, Prof. Gabbey Malope, Group CEO Toutele Academies (South Africa), expounded on the impact of enterprise knowledge among students and  how working in a structured environment fosters professional discipline, and financial literacy.

Zetech University  recognised top student entrepreneurs (Zepreneurs) excelling in entrepreneurship, showcasing creativity, resilience, and the courage to turn ideas into thriving enterprises. The highlight of the career fair was the awarding of Ksh. 100,000 to one Derrick Mwaniki, a first year communication and media student, and founder of Soaplytes, for his outstanding entrepreneurial innovation.

What began as a simple experiment in his hostel room has now grown into a promising brand that is redefining self-care with handmade, eco-friendly soaps crafted from natural ingredients. Driven by a passion for sustainability and wellness, Derrick’s business pitch stood out.

Zetech University continues to empower students to dream boldly, act purposefully, and create solutions that drive real change.
