Zetech University, through its Corporate Training and Consultancy Services, successfully concluded the Professional Pig Farming Training on 19th July 2025, a transformative initiative aimed at equipping farmers and agribusiness enthusiasts with practical knowledge in modern pig production. Held at the Technology Park Mang’u Campus, the training which ran from 28th June to 19th July drew participants from diverse backgrounds, all united by a shared interest in sustainable farming and agribusiness growth.

The training offered a comprehensive learning experience, covering essential aspects of pig farming such as animal husbandry, housing and biosecurity, breeds and breeding methods, nutrition, feeding strategies, disease management, and marketing. Participants were introduced to business planning models that support profitable pig enterprises, with sessions designed to be interactive, hands-on, and grounded in real-world applications. A key highlight of the training was a field visit to a modern pig farm, where attendees witnessed firsthand the integration of theory into daily farm operations, reinforcing lessons learned in the classroom.

Beyond the technical content, the programme reflected Zetech University’s deeper commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility and community empowerment, in line with its ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) principles of delivering social value. By offering accessible, quality training, Zetech University continues to build capacity in local communities and champion inclusive growth.

“This initiative goes beyond education—it empowers individuals to improve their livelihoods, strengthen food security, and create employment opportunities within Kenya’s agribusiness sector,” said Prof. Njenga Munene, Zetech University Vice Chancellor, during the certification ceremony.

Dr. Beauttah Mwangi, Director of the Technology Park Mang’u Campus noted that this programme is part of a broader agenda to transform lives through education and practical skills. The focus on pig farming reflects a growing demand for knowledge in animal production and the need to professionalise farming practices in Kenya.

Following the success of this session, Zetech University has announced the next training in its agribusiness series: the Animal Nutrition Training Cohort 2, which will take place from 16th August to 6th September 2025 at the same venue. This upcoming training will explore feed formulation, nutrition strategies, and sustainable practices in animal feeding, providing yet another opportunity for farmers and agribusiness professionals to gain industry-relevant skills.

Zetech University remains steadfast in its mission to deliver community-driven, industry-aligned training that supports Kenya’s development goals and empowers the next generation of agripreneurs.
