Zetech University is proud to announce its achievement after being recognised for excellence in student-led innovation, the best student-led club award by the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) during the Commercialisation and Entrepreneurial Institutional Leaders (CEIL) Summit 2025.
This recognition coincides with Zetech University’s deepening investment in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and reinforces the University’s commitment to fostering creativity, leadership, and problem-solving among students. It further cements the institution’s position as a leading technology hub for transformative education and innovation in Kenya.
The accolade highlights the outstanding contributions of the Zetech University’s Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology (iZET) Hub, the University’s flagship centre for innovation and entrepreneurship operating under the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Postgraduate Studies. Through flagship initiatives such as the Wezesha Incubation Programme and strategic partnerships with industry experts, the iZET Hub has catalysed student-driven solutions and ventures that are both innovative and impactful.
Over the past years, Zetech University has led in organising workshops, hackathons, mentorship programmes, and community engagement projects, equipping students with critical digital skills and entrepreneurial mindsets. By integrating academic theory with practical application, iZET Hub has not only strengthened students’ innovative capabilities but also delivered measurable social impact, demonstrating how student-led ecosystems can drive sustainable development and societal transformation.
“This recognition affirms the resilience, creativity, and ingenuity of our students,” said Prof. Njenga Munene, Vice Chancellor of Zetech University. “The iZET Hub is tangible proof of how universities can function as powerful engines of innovation, preparing young leaders who design solutions for both national and global challenges.”
The recognition comes within the context of CEIL Summit 2025, whose theme “Catalysing Innovation and Entrepreneurial Ecosystems” emphasised the importance of strong innovation ecosystems and effective industry-academia linkages. At the Summit, the Head of Public Service, Mr. Felix K. Koskei, officially backed the establishment of Student-Led
Innovation Clubs across 11 universities, including Zetech University, as part of a national strategy to nurture grassroots innovation.
Zetech University continues to strengthen its position as a centre of academic excellence and innovation by embedding entrepreneurship and leadership development within its scholarly framework. By doing so, it nurtures a learning environment where ideas can be transformed into practical solutions, enabling students to make meaningful contributions to national development and sustainable growth.
