Zetech University has officially launched its Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree, marking a bold stride in its mission to impact society through research-driven education that integrates innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship to shape transformative leaders and strengthen Kenya’s justice sector.

Accredited by the Council of Legal Education (CLE) and the Commission for University Education (CUE), the programme reflects Zetech University’s commitment to delivering quality legal education that meets national and global standards while addressing emerging societal challenges.

Speaking during the launch, Vice Chancellor Prof. Njenga Munene described the programme as a milestone for the University and the country.

The launch of our Bachelor of Laws programme affirms our belief that access to justice begins with excellence in legal education,” he said. “We are determined to nurture a new generation of lawyers who are competent, ethical, and innovative.”

The launch comes at a time of significant transformation in the global and regional justice sectors. Across Africa, debates on digital privacy, artificial intelligence, corruption, and human rights continue to challenge legal systems. In Kenya, judicial reforms and constitutional issues underscore the need for ethical, research-informed lawyers who can interpret new laws and defend justice in a rapidly digitalising world.

Representatives from CLE and CUE commended Zetech for meeting the rigorous standards required for accreditation.

This milestone affirms the institution’s readiness to uphold the highest standards in legal education and contribute to Kenya’s pool of skilled and ethical legal practitioners,” said a CLE representative.

The introduction of the LL.B. aligns with Kenya’s evolving legal landscape, shaped by technology, devolution, and the growing demand for equitable access to justice. The programme equips students with theoretical foundations and practical experience to navigate complex legal systems, engage in policy reform, and champion the rule of law.

Known for its strong focus on innovation, Zetech University aims to pioneer LegalTech integration and interdisciplinary research through its law programme. Research clusters will explore digital governance, data protection, ethics, and the intersection of technology and regulation in Africa’s emerging legal systems.

Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Alice Njuguna hailed the LL.B. as “more than an academic offering—it is a call to service.”

Our law graduates will play a vital role in promoting justice, accountability, and ethical governance in Kenya and beyond,” she said.

Housed under the Zetech Law School, the four-year programme will be delivered at the Technology Park Mang’u Campus, combining classroom learning with moot courts, legal clinics, and internships in law firms, courts, and public institutions. Students will also benefit from mentorship by experienced practitioners, judges, and scholars.

According to Dr Eric Kibet, Dean of the Zetech Law School, the curriculum is designed to produce graduates who are both skilled advocates and innovators in fields such as digital law, human rights, environmental justice, and LegalTech.

The modern lawyer must be both a thinker and a problem-solver,” he noted. “We emphasise experiential learning, critical thinking, and the use of emerging technologies in the pursuit of justice.”

Admission requires a KCSE mean grade of C+, including a B (plain) in English or Kiswahili, or an equivalent qualification.

Concluding the event, Prof. Munene reaffirmed the University’s mission:

Our goal is to empower lives through education that transforms societies and ensures that the pursuit of justice remains both a right and a responsibility for every citizen.”

Applications for the law programme are now open via sajili.zetech.ac.ke.
