Zetech University has strengthened its partnership with the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) through a series of engagements aimed at enhancing innovation, entrepreneurship, and research commercialisation. The first session, held on 27th October 2025, introduced the Entrepreneurial Institution Maturity Framework (EIMF) and the Entrepreneurial and Commercialisation Masterplan, led by Ms. Nora Ndege, a Technical Expert from KeNIA. The workshop guided university leaders, faculty, and innovators on aligning research, technology transfer, and entrepreneurship with Kenya’s socio-economic priorities.

During the engagement, Zetech University conducted a self-assessment using the EIMF online tool, which rated the university at a strong Level 2,  “Emerging Entrepreneurial Institution.” This milestone reflects the university’s growing capacity in innovation infrastructure, leadership, and entrepreneurial culture. The proposed Commercialisation and Entrepreneurial Masterplan will provide a clear framework for strengthening research outputs, intellectual property management, and partnerships with industry, alumni, and government stakeholders.

A follow-up training conducted on October 30, 2025, deepened this collaboration through practical sessions on intellectual property (IP) management, commercialisation pathways, and the Research-to-Commercialisation (R2C) framework. Experts from KeNIA, Viktoria Ventures, and the Kenya Industrial Property Institute (KIPI) equipped participants with hands-on knowledge in IP protection, startup development, and innovation funding. Through these efforts, Zetech University reaffirmed its commitment to becoming a leading entrepreneurial and technology-driven institution, contributing to Kenya’s Vision 2030 and national innovation agenda.
