Zetech University recently formalised a strategic partnership with the Kinuthia Wamwangi Foundation, led by its esteemed CEO, and HelpAge Ambassador for Older Persons in Kenya and Africa, Mr. Kinuthia Wamwangi. The collaboration marked a significant step in advancing the University’s commitment to inclusive education and social justice. With the Foundation’s wealth of experience, strong networks, and deep-rooted passion for advancing the rights of older persons, the partnership enhances our ability to drive meaningful change in the ageing agenda, locally and across the continent.

A key outcome of this partnership was the launch of the Zetech University Institute of Ageing Studies, a first-of-its-kind centre devoted to advocacy, academic research, and policy engagement focused on ageing. The Institute is committed to promoting healthy ageing, inclusive lifelong learning, legal protections, and economic participation for older persons. It also seeks to combat age-related social exclusion, champion intergenerational connection, and restore dignity and visibility to Kenya’s elderly population. The overarching goal is to reimagine ageing as a vibrant, respected, and empowering phase of life.

In alignment with the University’s values of innovation, social responsibility, and equity, the Institute will prioritise evidence-based research in gerontology and geriatrics to shape policies at both county and national levels. Targeted community outreach will also be rolled out to raise awareness about the rights, contributions, and unique needs of older persons, whether in bustling cities or remote villages. Through this groundbreaking initiative, Zetech University reaffirms its role as a leader in inclusive development, proving that ageing is not a burden, but a rich and meaningful chapter in the human journey.
