Zetech University was delighted to host Dr. Gabbey Gostina Malope, the founder and Executive Director of Toutele Agriculture College, South Africa, for a week-long visit that marked a significant milestone in South–South academic collaboration. The visit culminated in the signing of a strategic MoU aimed at deepening cooperation in agribusiness education, research, and exchange.
The MoU outlines key areas of collaboration including the development of joint agribusiness programmes, staff and student exchange opportunities, and impactful research projects with a focus on sustainable agriculture. This partnership aligns with Zetech University’s mission of providing real-world solutions and global exposure for students and faculty.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Zetech University Vice Chancellor Prof. Njenga Munene emphasised the importance of such partnerships in driving innovation in agriculture and opening new learning avenues for students. “We are thrilled to work with like-minded institutions such as Toutele Agriculture College to shape the future of agribusiness through innovation, knowledge exchange, and practical engagement,” he noted.
During her visit, Dr. Malope engaged with Zetech University faculty under the Department of International Affairs, Hospitality and Tourism Management, led by Prof. Owen Ngumi and explored Kenya’s dynamic agricultural value chains through field visits to Karuguru Coffee Farm in Kiambu and Maramba Tea Factory in Murang’a. These visits provided her with valuable insights into the coffee and tea sectors — two of Kenya’s leading agricultural exports.
Dr. Malope commended the university for its commitment to innovation and regional engagement, adding that the partnership will enrich both institutions by fostering collaboration in agritech, food security, and rural transformation.
This collaboration signals a bold step forward in creating a shared platform for African agricultural innovation and education. It also builds on Zetech University’s growing portfolio of global academic linkages, cementing its role as a forward-looking institution committed to regional development and sustainable prosperity.
