Zetech University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Huawei Technologies Ltd to become a Huawei Authorized Information Network Academy (HAINA), in line with the Varsity’s efforts to prepare graduates for the employment and entrepreneurial market.
The agreement set to take effect immediately, will see the institution offer Huawei programmes to students to boost their skills in IT, kicking off with network based course, Routing and Switching; the course will complement other university IT courses as well as empower networking professionals advance their careers. Through the skills gained, students will be in a better position to generate innovative solutions and creativity in IT and enterprise.
Commenting on the partnership, Zetech University VC Prof. Njenga Munene expressed confidence in the established relationship noting that enhancing the learning experience will serve to bridge the gap between the needs of the market and what is taught in class, “This agreement is timely and I believe that our students will greatly benefit from these specialised programmes. In addition, the Huawei certification will contribute to their qualifications for the market once they complete their studies.”
On her part, Suky Su, Huawei Industrial Service Solution Manager expressed her excitement to work with the university, terming the partnership as mutually productive, “We are privileged to enter into this partnership with Zetech to provide market-based courses and we trust that the agreement will be of great impact to the students and the faculty team.” she noted. She added that students who successfully undergo the programme will benefit from discounted charges while undertaking the certification exams.
The MOU signing, also witnessed by the university’s Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, Research and Extension Prof. Alice Njuguna, University faculty members and, Richard Gowi, Legal Officer at Huawei Technologies, is in line with the IT firm’s partnership with the ICT Authority to create an engineering students internship programmes and tech forums through which beneficiaries can use technology to contribute to the use of ICT in advancing growth in the country.
The University joins other institutions such as University of Nairobi and Strathmore University which are now HAINA, in boosting students’ capabilities in IT through these courses and align their training to meet the expectations of a fast based world of technology.
